ABOUT

Emilie Doering, Soprano

A truly expressive and magnetic soprano, Emilie is uniquely comfortable in both the uppermost registers of her lyric coloratura and the warm, low tones of jazz and contemporary repertoire.   Through her performances with symphonies and in concerts in Germany (Mittlesächsiches Philharmonie), Mexico City (Conservatorio Nacional de Música de México), Phoenix, and Los Angeles, Emilie has developed her belief in emotional intimacy and in the preeminence of story as the cornerstones of her performances.  Between those principles and her natural curiosity, Emilie has expanded from classical music into theatre, film, short form improv, and dance.

In Los Angeles, Emilie has performed with the Independent Opera Company and as the featured soprano soloist in Center Stage Opera’s recent Schubert concert, after performing as a finalist in their Young Artist Competition.  She has recorded contemporary compositions with Phillip Springer (the composer of “Santa Baby” and other jazz classics) and performed in several student and short films in the area. On stage, she understudied the Court Theatre for their performance at the Getty Villa of "Iphigenia in Aulis" and she performed improv live with the LA Connection Comedy Club.  Most recently, she concluded a contract with Phoenix Theatre in Arizona.

Originally from Arizona, Emilie studied voice under Linda Spevacek, and then Anne Elgar Kopta at Arizona State University. There she performed with the Phoenix Theatre, Phoenix Symphony, Phoenix Symphony Outreach program, and Class6 Theatre.  She now studies voice with Marian Bodnar and Meisner technique with the Wayne Dvorak Studio in LA and is SAG eligible/AEA eligible. Emilie is represented by Todd Eskin with ATB Talent.
